Montpellier vs Nimes Prediction & Betting tips
Last season, Montpellier won 1-0 against Nîmes Olympique at home. Can we expect more goals on Sunday afternoon?
Montpellier:
After three victories in a row, Montpellier suffered a loss of points last weekend when visiting low-flyer Dijon. La Paillade fell behind twice, but just as often Michel Der Zakarian’s team came back into the game. First Andy Delort made it 1-1 and in the final phase Téji Savanier saved the final score from a penalty kick to 2-2, a point for his team. The first loss of points in four games caused Montpellier to drop from second to third place in the rankings and is now three points behind leader Stade Rennais.
For the fourth game in a row, Der Zakarian’s team scored at least two goals, something only Stade Rennais also managed. So with the attack it is good at la Paillade, but that the zero was not kept at zero for the fifth game will cause Der Zakarian to be concerned. On the other hand, the many goals against are also part of the offensive playing style that the Armenian coach uses this season. In previous seasons, it was more often chosen to avoid counter goals, but this season la Paillade focuses mainly on scoring goals.
Nimes:
In the first game of the season, Nîmes Olympique managed to beat Stade de Brestois 4-0, but in the last four games, Jérôme Arpinon’s team only took two points. One of those two points was achieved in-house last week against PhD candidate RC Lens. At half time, les Crocodiles were still 1-0 behind, but in the final phase Zinedine Ferhat saved a point for his team by making it 1-1. With five points from five games, Arpinon’s team is not performing much better than last season and it seems to be another tough season for the team that finished eighteenth last season.
With three goals in the last four games, this season could well be Zinedine Ferhat’s breakthrough season. The Algerian is already 27 and has already played ten international matches for his home country, but has so far made little impression in his career. This season, however, Ferhat is still the best player in les Crocodiles and Arpinon will do everything he can to keep the Algerian for his side before the transfer window closes. Certainly also because so far there are no other stars in his selection.
