Nimes vs Lens Prediction & Betting tips
The first sixteenth final of the Coupe de la Ligue will be played on Tuesday evening by Nîmes Olympique and RC Lens. Both teams did not score in their league game last weekend, but can we expect goals on Tuesday evening?
Nimes Olympique:
Nîmes Olympique did not lose on Saturday-evening for the third game in a row by scoring a 0-0 draw on a visit to Stade Reims. Because of the third draw in a row, the team of Bernard Blaquart can now be found in eighteenth place with an average of only one point per game, far less than the 1.4 points that were achieved on average per game last season. Remarkably, in terms of goal difference, Les Crocos runs on the same schedule as last season, but that on average two goals are scored less per two matches and one hit less is collected by the Blaquart team. This is of course a good sign in the defensive field, but in the offensive field it simply has to be better if the team wants to leave the relegation zone.
The offensive at Les Crocos is less likely in view of the departure of Téji Savanier, Denis Bouanga, Sada Thioub and Rachid Alioui, among others, but it will be frustrating for Blaquart that his summer purchases have barely proven themselves. Nevertheless, there is also hope on the horizon, as midfielder Théo Valls starts to profile himself more and more as an unyielding game distributor in midfield. Against Stade Reims the name of Valls could have been just three times on the match form – twice as a declarer and once as a scorer – and if Valls continues to develop this way, his team will undoubtedly rise on the rankings.
RC Lens:
At the end of last season, RC Lens played two play-off duels with Dijon to bring promotion to Ligue 1, but then Philippe Montanier’s team failed. This season, Montanier’s team seems to be able to make another shot at a top position in the rankings, and with second place after twelve rounds, direct promotion is even a real scenario. In the last two games, however, two 0-0 draws lost four points, so Montanier’s team does not seem to be in the best shape of the season.
Just like Nîmes Olympique, Sang et Or has a good defensive situation with only eleven goals against this season, but also with RC Lens a real goal getter is missing in the front. Eight players were already certain for Sang et Or in the Ligue 2 and together scored seventeen goals, but none of the players scored more than three times. However, on Tuesday evening the eyes will be on Simon Banza and Tony Mauricio, who were jointly involved in nine goals in the season, even though both players had little chance of attacking in the last two games.
