Poland vs Italy Prediction & Betting tips
In Gdansk, Poland and Italy will face each other on Sunday evening in group A1 of the Nations League. It promises to be an exciting battle between Robert Lewandowski and Ciro Immobile, two of the deadliest strikers of the moment!
Poland:
The Polish national team has been on the rise lately. Under the leadership of Robert Lewandowski, the Eastern Europeans experienced a virtually flawless European Championship qualification, and last month reached the highest ranking ever in the FIFA world rankings with a nineteenth place. This month De Adelaars fell three places, but that is probably only for a short time. Last Wednesday evening, Finland was crushed 5-1 by the football machine of national coach Jerzy Brzeczek, who saved his biggest stars for Italy at home.
One of the players who had to rest in the monster victory over Finland was captain Lewandowski, the absolute star on the side of Poland. Last season, the Bayern Munich attacker was truly phenomenal with 55 goals in all competitions, and last weekend he personally guided his employer to a 4-3 victory over Hertha BSC with four goals (!). In the back, however, Poland must manage without Maciej Rybus and Artur Jedrzejczyk, while midfielder Piotr Zielinski is also absent due to a positive corona test.
Italy:
Many people still think about the dull catenaccio when thinking about the Italian national team, but that is completely unjustified. Under national coach Roberto Mancini, the Azzurri play wonderful offensive football with smooth combinations. Also last Wednesday evening, with a 6-0 victory over Moldova, it was again a delight. “I’m going to order beer for everyone,” said Francesco Caputo, who at the age of 33 years and 62 days was crowned the oldest scoring debutant in Italy.
Caputo’s response is indicative of the excellent atmosphere within the Italian camp, in which everyone feels at home and feels important. Mancini is well aware that with this extremely busy playing calendar he needs a large selection, and that frequent rotation is necessary to keep everyone fit and sharp. Second choice was put to work against Moldova, so we will see a very different Italy against Poland. In terms of game perception, however, nothing will change with the Southern Europeans, who nowadays like to quickly find their way forward.
