PSV vs Groningen Prediction & Betting tips
A renovated FC Groningen will play against PSV in Eindhoven on Saturday-evening. Earlier this season, the Eindhoveners narrowly won in Groningen. Will the Danny Buijs team make the PSV difficult again?
PSV Eindhoven:
Before PSV can watch on Sunday how close attacker Ajax has to deal with Feyenoord in the Classic, the Eindhoveners first face FC Groningen. In the Philips Stadium, Mark van Bommel’s team has to avoid losing points in the Eredivisie for the second time in a row. It is fortunate to say that a few hours after the draw against FC Emmen (2-2) last week, Ajax did not manage to win SC Heerenveen (4-4). As a result, the advantage of two points on the team from Amsterdam remained intact and PSV was also at the top of the rankings prior to round 19.
The draw in Emmen may charge PSV itself in full. On the Oude Meerdijk, Luuk de Jong and defender AngeliƱo gave PSV a 0-2 lead. That lead could have been much higher, were it not that two goals were rejected after interference from the VAR. Out of nothing, however, Emmen made the 1-2 ten minutes before time. To complete the drama, the equalizer was also made by the PhD candidate in the injury time of the second half. A painful moment for Van Bommel’s men, even though the point loss did not appear to be deadly in the title fight.
FC Groningen:
Last weekend FC Groningen convincingly settled with subtopper Heracles Almelo (3-0). Thomas Bruns was the big match winner at the Hitachi Capital Mobility Stadium. The midfielder rented from Vitesse immediately listened to his debut for Groningen with two goals. The third goal was made from eleven meters by Samir Memisevic. Because of the victory, Groningen has climbed to the thirteenth position of the Premier League. The hole with the degradation bar is now two points.
Outside of Groningen, Danny Buijs’s formation remains extremely weak. Only two of the last twenty away games in the Premier League were won. Only Excelsior (2-4) and De Graafschap (0-1) were won. The victory over Excelsior dates back to November and De Graafschap was defeated in round 3. It promises to be a difficult story in Eindhoven. The only reason that Groningen citizens have in terms of statistics is the fact that five of the last six confrontations with PSV ended in a draw.
