PSV vs Venlo Prediction & Betting tips
PSV will take on VVV-Venlo in this round. Obviously, anything other than a simple home win would come as a surprise.
PSV Eindhoven:
PSV won its fourth official game in a row last Saturday. On a visit to fellow provincial RKC Waalwijk, the people of Eindhoven took a quick 0-2 lead, after which they sat in a seat and won fairly easily with 1-4, without actually playing strong. Mo Ihattaren scored for the second game in a row. The attacking midfielder seems to have completely recovered from his dip. “I’m glad it’s all happened now, and not on my 24th,” Ihattaren reflected to the club’s own media.
Trainer Roger Schmidt has little reason to change many things in his starting team, or he should want to rotate because of the fitness of his players. However, Tuesday’s match against VVV is the last of the year, so there is no immediate need for this. For PSV it is of course important to end 2020 with a victory. The new calendar year starts with two absolute top competitions. Immediately after the winter break, PSV will be a guest at Ajax, after which AZ Alkmaar will visit the Philips Stadium three days later.
VVV-Venlo:
VVV-Venlo has so far achieved nine points in the first half of the season. With the away match against PSV as the only one ahead, there is a good chance that they will enter the Christmas recess with that subtotal. Last weekend things went wrong for the yellow-blacks in the home game against FC Twente. The final score of 1-2 may suggest that there was an exciting match, but this was not the case. In the final phase, VVV could have equalized with some luck, but considered in ninety minutes, the team of coach Hans de Koning would have clearly been the inferior.
The only positive story of the Venlo team in the first half of this season is the game of striker Giorgios Giakoumakis, who already has ten hits to his name – more than half of VVV’s entire goal production in the Eredivisie. For De Koning, it is important that the Greek striker remains fit, otherwise enforcement will be an even more difficult task than is already the case.
