Rangers vs St. Liege Prediction & Betting tips
Rangers hopes to secure wintering in the Europa League on Thursday evening. The Scots are still unbeaten this season, and have one point at home against Standard Liège for a place in the next round. However, visitors from Belgium must win anyway to keep their European aspirations alive.
Rangers:
Rangers is in great shape this season. The top club from Glasgow, which has risen from the ashes, leaves arch-rival Celtic in the dust in its own Premier League, and is on course for its first national title in ten years. In the Europa League, the men of trainer Steven Gerrard are still unbeaten, although he will have regularly scratched behind the ears. The Scots let a two goal lead slip through their fingers against Benfica, both at home and at home, so that they are still one point short for European wintering.
Gerrard will therefore mainly insist on concentration in the dressing room of Rangers on Thursday evening. In their own country, The Gers are in top form, with three resounding victories over Hamilton (8-0), Aberdeen (4-0) and Falkirk (0-4). In addition, Gerrard will do well that his team is not dependent on one or two supporting players. The absence of Filip Helander and perhaps Ryan Jack and Joe Aribo should therefore not cause any problems.
Standard:
Standard Liège faces the grueling task of giving Rangers their first defeat of the season. With only three points from four group matches, wintering in the Europa League is hanging by a thread. However, with only one victory in the last five official games, the Belgians are completely out of shape. Last weekend, Les Rouches did not get further than a bloodless 0-0 draw in a poor top match at Anderlecht.
The problems are therefore piling up for trainer Philippe Montanier. There is nothing wrong with Standard Liège’s rearguard, but the team lacks creativity and scoring ability. In terms of goal difference (+5), the red shirts are on a par with Jupiler Pro League leader Beerschot, but unlike matches of the Flemish, those of the Walloons are really not to peek at. Obbi Oulare is suspended after his red card last week, so Maxime Lestienne and Michel Balikwisha will probably be able to figure it out again on behalf of the visitors.
