Real Sociedad vs Betis Prediction & Betting tips
Real Sociedad will compete against Real Betis on Thursday evening at home. For both teams, this means the last chance not to lose sight of the Spanish subtop and thus to keep the European dream alive.
Real Sociedad:
In theory, Real Sociedad still has a chance to win European football, because with nine points left, the Basques are six points away from sixth place. The reality, however, is that the blue and white already won five league matches in a row and have now dropped to an anonymous tenth place. Coach Imanol Alguacil, who was appointed in December last year, initially provided the desired shock effect, but there is not much left of that.
Yet you can’t actually charge Alguacil. A trainer is usually just as good (or bad) as his material, and the Real Sociedad team simply doesn’t represent much. In the front the club has names like Willian Jose, Mikel Oyarzabal and Adnan Januzaj, although it has some nice players, but in the midfield and in the defense there is mainly firewood. This Thursday it will be completely resolved, because key players such as Asier Illarramendi, David Zurutuza, Januzaj and Hector Moreno will most likely have to fail. Fortunately there is also good news, because Willian Jose seems fit enough to start.
Real Betis:
For Real Betis too, the season threatens to go out like a night candle. Last weekend, the Andalusians were allowed to visit low-flyer Rayo Vallecano to pinch their hands with a 1-1 draw, putting the Spanish top six (and therefore European football qualification) even further out of sight.
So it does not look good for Real Betis, which in terms of budget and player material actually belongs in the Europa League. The fact is, however, that the team of coach Quique Setien has been performing extremely mixedly since the turn of the year. Of the 36 points that were at stake so far in 2019, the green and white took only fourteen. With international players such as Sergio Canales (Spain) and Giovani lo Celso (Argentina), Real Betis has plenty of individual class, but often plays rather naively. That put the team already at 37 goals, the highest number of the entire left row. The stubborn Setien will not change his playing method quickly, but if Real Betis actually seizes alongside European football, chances are that he can grab his bags.
