Real Sociedad vs Espanyol Prediction & Betting tips
In the last league match of the first half of the season in La Liga, the middle motors Real Sociedad and Espanyol face each other. Real Sociedad is a favorite, but the Basques have this season remarkably difficult in their own Anoeta.
Real Sociedad:
Real Sociedad wants to go into Europe, but with a provisional twelfth place, the club from San Sebastian is again this season far away from the Spanish subtop. Last week, thanks to a nice 0-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu, we finally got to laugh again, but there is absolutely no question of a party mood in the Anoeta.
The disappointing season is mainly due to the bad home balance, because Real Sociedad knew this football year in only one of its eight home matches the three points in their own house. The Anoeta was completely renovated last summer, including the ugly cinder track was removed, but La Real is clearly not yet comfortable in her refurbished accommodations. Just before the festive season, the blue-and-white women in their most recent home match went 0-1 against fellow countryman Alaves, after which head coach Asier Garitano could pick up his bags. The new trainer Imanol Alguacil will obviously want to deal with Basque home syndrome as soon as possible at his home debut.
Espanyol:
After a strong start to the season, Espanyol moved further away in the rankings, but last week finally managed to halt a series of six league defeats in a row. A goal from club top scorer Borja Iglesias ultimately proved to be sufficient to defeat Leganes by 1-0. With nine league goals, the deep striker alone is responsible for almost half of the total goal production at Los Pericos.
The 1-0 victory of last week could be called a typical Espanyol victory. The Catalans do not score much, but usually do not give much away themselves either. In recent weeks, however, the rearguard of the blue-whites has creaked, as goalkeeper Diego Lopez has been traversed sixteen times in the last seven league matches. Trainer Rubi failed to adequately absorb the loss of Spanish international Mario Hermoso. The away match against Real Sociedad is probably too early for the center defender.
