Romania vs Spain Prediction & Betting tips
The European Championship qualifying match between Romania and Spain is scheduled for Thursday night at the Arena Nationala in Bucharest. This competition is extremely important for the home country in particular. After all, visitors already have their ticket for next year’s European Championship in their pocket.
Romania:
With a 2-1 defeat to Sweden, Romania started its qualification for the European Championship in 2020 with a false start. However, the Tricolorii managed to recover well by grabbing no less than seven points in their three subsequent European Championship qualifiers. The men of coach Cosmin Contra are now at the same level as Sweden, although the Scandinavians occupy the coveted second place because of a better mutual result. The duel against league-leader Spain is therefore extremely important for Romania in the battle for direct EC qualification.
Contra will have to compete against Spain without two key players. Defender Nicosur Bancu had to cancel injured, while Anderlecht midfielder Alexandru Chipciu was suspended because of his red card in the 4-0 win over Malta. Contra is likely to keep many players behind the ball, with Vlad Chiriches (Sassuolo), Alexandru Marin (Mainz 05) and Alexandru Marin (Ajax) taking care of the organization. George Puscas (Reading) will have to manage on his own at the point of the attack.
Spain:
Spain can hardly miss its starting ticket for next year’s European Championship, because the Southern Europeans have so far managed to win all four of their European Championship qualifiers. The Spaniards, under the guidance of the still relatively new coach Roberto Moreno, can therefore travel to Bucharest with a good feeling. Moreno was already one of the assistants of predecessor Luis Enrique before his appointment as the Spanish elector, so he knows how things are going at La Roja. The first three international matches under Moreno, who recently indicated that they would like to step aside again if Luis Enrique wants to return to the national team, were all won.
In Spain almost all known names are present again. Captain Sergio Ramos already has 165 international matches to his name, and can match this international match period with record international Iker Casillas (167 caps). Marco Asensio and Isco had to cancel injured, while Iago Aspas and Inigo Martinez were passed. However, there is still plenty of quality, although it remains to be seen how the Spanish attack will look. The expectation is that Paco Alcacer can start as a deep striker, with Suso and Mikel Oyarzabal on the flanks. Debutants Pablo Sarabia and Unai Nunez are most likely starting on the bank.
