Serbia vs Ukraine Prediction & Betting tips
Serbia hopes to be able to write history on Sunday afternoon by qualifying for the European Championship for the first time since the disintegration of former Yugoslavia. Then in the last group match, however, there will have to be won from group winner Ukraine, and it must be hoped that Portugal will make a slider in and against Luxembourg.
Serbia:
Serbia still has a tiny chance of direct EC qualification in the final round of group B, although the country needs a good dose of luck for that. Not only does the current number three have to beat Ukraine, but they also have to hope that Portugal will miss out on the already eliminated Luxembourg. The chance that such a scenario will unfold is of course extremely small. For example, at the time of writing, Unibet is prepared to pay your stake more than sixteen times if Serbia still manages to put Portugal in second place.
National coach Ljubisa Tumbakovic will of course never admit it out loud, but realistically this last European Championship qualification match for Serbia will focus on the preparation for the play-offs, in which the last four tickets for the European Championship will be distributed in March next year. His selection lacks quite a few determining players, because famous names such as Nemanja Matic, Luka Jovic and Filip Kostic are all not present. So it is up to routine Aleksandar Kolarov and of course Ajax-striker Dusan Tadic to pull the Serbian cart.
Ukraine:
With six draws and a draw in seven games, Ukraine can look back on a strong European Championship qualifying series. Even against reigning European champion Portugal, the men of national coach Andriy Shevchenko survived twice with a scoreless draw in Lisbon and a 2-1 victory in Kiev. Based on that, Ukraine may be a dangerous outsider for next year’s final round.
In any case, the Ukraine team is well put together, with enough scoring power and a solid rear guard. The Eastern Europeans, however, already have group profits in their pocket, so there is a chance that Shevchenko will experiment a little on Sunday afternoon in Belgrade. The former top striker of Dynamo Kiev, AC Milan and Chelsea, among others, cannot have the midfielders Taras Stepanenko (suspended), Junior Moraes, Marlos and Oleksandr Zinchenko (all injured).
