Setubal vs Boavista Prediction & Betting tips
Surprise team FC Famalicao were dethroned again in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. It seems only a matter of time before the three heavyweights of the Liga Porto, Benfica and Sporting rank in the top three. In the upper third of the table, however, there is only one team unbeaten after the first nine games of the season: Boavista Porto.
The “Axadrezados” from Porto have done well so far. Boavista secured a surprise 2-0 home win against Europa League side Sporting Braga last week following a series of draws. On the tenth game day, the “Axadrezados” will now face Vitoria Setubal.
If you leave aside the achievements of Boavista in the cup competitions outside, have the “Axadrezados” compared to the season before in the stranger presented quite solid. This should now be linked in Setubal. The Green-Whites from Setubal have so far won only one league match and have meanwhile been without victory for four matches.
At home, Setubal is not only unbeaten, but has even received a single goal in the Estadio do Bonfim. The white vest is now to be protected against the checkers from Porto. At Vitoria Setubal against Boavista Porto, the bookmaker’s odds on a winner are balanced.
For the draw, there is an unusual probability of occurrence of 32%, which among other things is due to the draw-heavy game of both teams. On the other hand, bets on a goal-poor encounter are recommended.
Vitoria Setubal:
Vitoria Setubal have conceded just two defeats against FC Porto and Benfica this season. Due to the lack of success against the rest of the league Sandro Mendes had to vacate his coaching position recently. So far, the Green-Whites from Setubal won only a single league game.
The numerous draws ensured that the team has already settled in the bottom third of the table. Already after this match day, the cushion could minimize to a relegation rank to one point. To take some breath, a home win over Boavista would be groundbreaking for Table 13.
At home, Vitoria Setubal has not lost a competitive match this season. There were two home wins and four draws in the six home matches in all competitions. The Green-Whites kept their white vest in every home game. It would therefore be daring to risk a prognosis on the guests at Vitoria Setubal against Boavista Porto.
Since the departure of Mendes interim coach Meyong has taken over the team. His coaching debut last week saw a 1-1 draw at Santa Clara. Only for the second time this season Vitoria Setubal showed a goal. With two goals, the Green-White Offensive is the worst in the Primeira League.
If Vitoria Setubal continues the previous performances at home and also increases in the offensive, the second victory in the domestic league is quite feasible. In the home game against the “Axadrezados” from Porto, Coach Meyong will only have to do without the suspended Semedo.
Boavista:
Since the 2013/14 season Boavista Porto is again represented in the Beletage of Portuguese football. After the relegation battle in the first two seasons after the return, the “Axadrezados” have established themselves as Erstligateam. Three times in a row, Boavista Porto remained the last two-digit table place.
In the new season, the “Axadrezados” put so far also a strong start and are meanwhile the only unbeaten team in the league. In the first nine league games, there were three wins and six draws. With only five goals, Boavista represents the second strongest defensive in the league. In the past week, the “Axadrezados” played for the fourth time to zero.
With the home win over Sporting Braga Boavista has defended for the time being the sixth place in the table. Boavista also wins the away game in Setubal, move the “Axadrezados” at least one more place. The primary goal of the team, however, remains the league, although an international starting place with such services seems quite feasible.
On Monday evening, the 50-year-old meets his former team from Setubal, whom he coached last season until the end of the first half of the season.
In contrast to the previous season, the achievements of Boavista can be seen this time even in foreign countries. In the four away games in the league, the “Axadrezados” have recorded three draws and one victory. For comparison: Last season Boavista had an away record of 3-4-10 with a total of 27 goals conceded.
In both cup competitions, the team of Lito Vidigal meanwhile eliminated. Thus, the entire focus is on the league. The “Axadrezados” want to score the next points away, and after the home win over Braga travel to Setubal full of euphoria. Serious failures Vidigal on Monday evening not to complain. Changes in the starting eleven are therefore not expected.
