Sevilla vs Atl. Madrid Prediction & Betting tips
It promises to be a hot cup evening on Tuesday night, when Sevilla takes in the sold out Sanchez Pizjuan against Atletico Madrid in the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey. The Andalusians defend a 1-2 lead from the first leg, but the Madrid players do not give up the fight yet!
Sevilla :
It took a while, but Vincenzo Montella seems to have finally found his way at Sevilla. The Italian coach had a difficult start with defeats against arch-rival Real Betis (3-5) and Alaves (1-0), but the 1-2 cup victory of last week’s visit to Atletico Madrid gave Los Rojiblancos wings. Sevilla played a strong match in the Wanda Metropolitano and, thanks to late goals from Jesus Navas and Joaquin Correa, achieved a well deserved victory. Montella realized that his team could use a confidence boost and therefore left his basic eleven last weekend, which resulted in a resounding 0-3 win at Espanyol. Once again Sevilla played a decent match, with a clear football vision.
The Andalusians are therefore back on the right track, although it is still questionable what Montella will do in the return on Tuesday-evening. Atletico Madrid-home is already the third race in barely six days, so not rotating brings a lot of fatigue risks. On the other hand, you could also call the possible choice to rotate a risk, because Montella has just started talking to his team. With the inclusion of new players in the base team, the automatisms may fall away. The Italian has not announced his match selection yet, but I expect that he will want to keep his changes to a minimum and, just like in the previous two games, wants to bring the strongest possible basic election within the lines.
Atl. Madrid :
Just now that Atletico Madrid was scrambled again thanks to the arrival of Diego Costa, a new form of dipping around comes into play. After last week’s 1-2 cup war against Seville, the Madrilenians did not manage to win against PhD student Girona last weekend in their own home: 1-1. Especially the lack of scoring ability is a big problem, because with only twenty goals in nineteen rounds, Los Colchoneros are working on their least productive season since the appointment of trainer Diego Simeone.
In and against Sevilla, however, Atletico Madrid will have to score at least twice in order to avoid an early elimination in the Copa del Rey. The visitors will have to put it in the return without Diego Costa, who injured last weekend from the field and will be sidelined for about a week and a half. That is a big loss, because of all the strikers he was by far the most in shape. Antoine Griezmann signed against Girona for the opening goal, but that was only his first goal in a month and a half. The Frenchman will probably be assisted on Tuesday-evening by compatriot Kevin Gameiro, who is not exactly a goal machine with only four league goals. Nonetheless, Simeone remains confident: “According to the press, we are in a bad phase, but I think we’re on the right track.” Nevertheless, the Argentinian has to adjust to his count on Tuesday.
