Southampton vs Watford Prediction & Betting tips
Southampton is nineteenth in the Premier League. Watford 20th. Both clubs meet each other Saturday night at St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton. Will Southampton manage to keep the three points in-house? Or does Watford record the second consecutive victory in an away game? The answer to this is not (yet) there, but a preview is!
Southampton:
The Austrian manager of Southampton, Ralph Hasenhüttl, is therefore in 19th place in the Premier League with The Saints. Southampton has one point more than Watford, while the goal difference of both teams is exactly the same. In fact, Southampton’s goal difference should have looked a lot more positive for The Saints, but the 0-9 defeat to Leicester City throws in the food for Hasenhüttl and his team. The fact that Southampton is currently above Watford and not on par with Watford is due to The Saints due to their game last week.
After all, in the previous round, Southampton managed to score a point when visiting Arsenal: 2-2. Beforehand they had signed with Southampton for a draw at the Emirates Stadium, afterwards The Saints were dissatisfied with the scoring. This was because Arsenal did not equalize until the final phase of the match and therefore Hasenhüttl’s men had to settle for one instead of three points. The four games (including three in the Premier League) for the Arsenal match were lost for Southampton and therefore the 2-2 draw in North London was not a bad result for The Saints either.
Watford:
Watford is therefore at the very bottom of the Premier League. This while The Hornets ended in eleventh place last season and also made it to the FA Cup final. It is striking that this Watford can be roughly compared to last season’s Watford, although there has been a new trainer for the group with Quique Sánchez Flores since the beginning of September. Less than a month after the start of the new season, Javi Gracia was fired at Watford for disappointing results, but things are not going well under Sánchez Flores.
Watford is still under the line and last weekend’s 0-3 defeat to Burnley promises little good for the upcoming Watford games. The loss on Vicarage Road was perhaps a bit flattering and Sánchez Flores was also – not entirely wrong – of the opinion that The Hornets might have been entitled to at least a draw against Burnley. More than three weeks ago, Watford did win pretty well with 0-2 against another relegation candidate, Norwich City, and that, on the other hand, offers new prospects for the relegation cracker that awaits Watford on Saturday night.
