Spain vs Kosovo Prediction & Betting tips
In its third World Cup qualifying match, Spain will take on Kosovo in its own Seville on Tuesday evening. The backers of the former world champion are demanding nothing less than a resounding victory, after failing to convince in her previous two World Cup qualifying matches.
Spain:
This World Cup qualifying series is not exactly going smoothly for Spain. The world champion of 2010 did not get further than a 1-1 draw in her first group match against Greece, despite a gigantic field advantage, and against Georgia it was also released with a scare with a narrow 1-2 victory. The star ensemble of national coach Luis Enrique even went behind to tea, but thanks to the equalizer by Ferran Torres and the winning goal deep in injury time by substitute Dani Olmo, the three points went to Spain at the last minute.
Spain will normally of course just qualify for the World Cup, although Luis Enrique admitted that he is concerned. That is understandable, because in just a few months the European Championship is just around the corner, while the Spanish form is not yet over to write home. With players such as Unai Simon, Rodri, Eric Garcia and Pedri, the future looks bright, but they still need a few more years to become absolute world leaders. In that respect, it is to be hoped that Sergio Ramos will be fit enough to start on Tuesday evening, because he is indispensable for this team with his experience and leadership qualities.
Kosovo:
Kosovo started its World Cup qualifying series with a false start last weekend, as the country was treated to a 0-3 defeat at home by Sweden. The Kosovars were hoping for a stunt after their 4-0 practice victory over Lithuania a few days earlier, but this was soon ended, partly due to an assist from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a goal from Alexander Isak.
Only with a victory over Spain, Kosovo will still be in the race for a starting ticket for the World Cup, but that is of course not very realistic. With players such as Milot Rashica, Bersant Celina and Vedat Muriqi, one of the newest FIFA members may still have years ahead, but at the moment the country cannot measure itself with the established order. Kosovo currently occupies the 117th place in the FIFA world rankings, and last year’s Nations League was also a major tragedy with defeats against weak football countries such as North Macedonia and Albania. National coach Bernard Challandes is therefore not to be envied.
