Spain vs Romania Prediction & Betting tips
In the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain and Romania will close their European Championship qualifying series on Monday evening. It won’t be really exciting anymore, because the cards have already been shuffled in group F.
Spain:
Spain has been assured of participating in European Championships for quite some time, but if you think Southern Europeans are taking it a bit easier now, you are wrong. Last Friday poor Malta got a whopping 7-0 over the knee. National coach Robert Moreno was naturally delighted: ‘We were so incredibly hungry. The debutants also did a fantastic job. ‘
The newcomers Moreno was referring to were defender Pau Torres (Villarreal) and Dani Olmo (Dinamo Zagreb), who both immediately added to their debut at La Roja with a goal. Olmo in particular is expected a lot in the coming years, while the Spanish future also looks very bright with other young players such as Saul, Rodri and Fabian. This leads to an enormous amount of internal competition – the Spanish selection is full of quality, but Moreno will soon be able to take only 23 players to the European Championship. Also the last European Championship qualification match against Romania is of course a glorified practice match, but as a Spanish international you can now certainly not relax. In any case, it is obvious that Moreno will rotate a lot on Monday evening, also to keep the club coaches happy.
Romania:
Romania is currently licking its wounds. The country went down in Bucharest last Friday in its do-or-die game against Sweden with 0-2 and can therefore write direct EC qualification on its stomach. In March next year, Eastern Europeans are still allowed to resit via the play-offs, but that is no more than a mere consolation at the moment.
Playing in a chock full of Wanda Metropolitano against football icons like David de Gea, Sergio Ramos and Sergio Busquets is of course the dream of every football player, but I doubt that the Romanians can enjoy it on Monday evening. As there is nothing more at stake for Romania, chances are that national coach Cosmin Contra will change his national team at various positions. The Tricolorii have to do without their best defender anyway, because Vlad Chiriches (Sassuolo) is in the rag basket.
