St. Truiden vs Anderlecht Prediction & Betting tips
The Canaries from Sint-Truiden can play their last match of the regular season without pressure. The pressure is on the visitors because Anderlecht have to score at least one point to be sure of play-off 1.
St. Truiden:
STVV can still play a trick on Anderlecht in the battle for play-off 1. They will have to do that without three of their players who are struggling with injuries. The most important is Steve De Ridder. The STVV captain has a foot and hamstring injury and is no longer taking action. Junior Pius and Aleksander Filippov are also unavailable due to muscle tears. Peter Maes threatened to let his men train for a week longer if they do not respond after the heavy derby defeat against Genk, but due to the burden of injury it is unlikely that he can deliver.
Peter Maes was ‘not amused’ after the 4-0 defeat against Gouwe Genk. Maes has presented his players with a choice: either they will give everything one last time on Sunday or they will feel it during their holidays. Normally STVV trains one week after the end of the regular competition and the players are allowed on vacation afterwards. However, Maes has threatened to add another week. Anderlecht needs at least one more point and will therefore not receive it as a gift on the artificial grass in Stayen. Nothing is at stake anymore for STVV, because they already saved themselves last week.
STVV was able to make the rescue after a difficult season under Peter Maes. Next season, however, things will have to be better and Maes is therefore determined to cut the knives in the Truien players’ core. According to sources, we will not see at least six players at Stayen next season. It concerns Samuel Asamoah, Duckens Nazon, Mory Konaté and Ibrahima Sankhon who are all at the end of their contract. In addition, there is no longer room for Facundo Colidio and Georgios Vagiannids, which are rented from Internazionale. Both players could not convince enough.
Anderlecht:
Anderlecht has been doing very well against the top teams for a whole season and that was underlined once more against Club last weekend. Against the Play-off 1 teams, the Purple & White even took fifteen out of eighteen. Nobody does better, not even Club Brugge. If Anderlecht manages to continue the line in Play-off 1, they can aim for second place without hesitation. Then the Kompany boys may even be favorites for that second place, which entitles them to the preliminary rounds of the Champions League. A big difference with third place, which does not even entitle to the Europa League, but to the preliminary rounds of the new Conference League.
After nine matches they managed to beat Club Brugge again. And for the first time this season, Anderlecht are nine out of nine. It was hard work, but Albert Sambi Lokonga fired in the redeeming 2-1. The captain celebrated this with his finger to his lips. Clearly a gesture of silence for analysts Glen De Boeck and Lorenzo Staelens, who were very critical of the Purple & White and Lokonga in a newspaper last weekend.
The Purple & White were dominated by Club for 70 minutes, while Sambi was unable to make his mark. Then the match turned. Anderlecht actually turned out to be efficient, fourteen goals in the last five matches, and it played the match well, just like against Antwerp and Zulte Waregem. “We showed our maturity,” said Luke Nmecha. “There is now a system that works with more control on the ball, even against the future champion. If we had reached this level earlier, we would be closer to Club now. We know how good we are and can get even better. The other teams should not take it lightly against us. ”
