Venlo vs Ajax Prediction & Betting tips
Before Ajax can prove itself against Dinamo Kiev in the play-offs of the Champions League, the away match is waiting in De Koel. VVV will want to stunt and the result of Ajax against Heracles must offer hope in Venlo.
VVV Venlo:
VVV started last week with an away game in sunny Tilburg. Willem II was the first opponent this season and immediately proved inadequate against the renovated team of Maurice Steijn. However, between all new players it was veteran Danny Post who opened the score in the King Willem II Stadium. Post has been a basic player in Venlo since 2013 and even with all purchases this summer seems to be sure of a place in the first eleven. Timon Wellenreuther was too close to scoring after a magnificent shot from outside the penalty area, but the Venlo players were now ahead.
Four of the many purchases started in the base. In the forefront, West Ham United mercenary Martin Samuelsen and Peter van Ooijen, who came over from Heracles Almelo, had the chance to prove themselves, alongside veteran Ralf Seuntjens. In the midfield was a taste of the preparation Tino-Sven Susic and in the back Chris Kum made his official debut for the Limburgers. In the second half, Jay-Roy Grot and Damian van Bruggen also came on the field, so the number of debutants grew to six. Even with this legion of newcomers, the VVV managed to win the victory and with that, the Steijn team has again started the new Eredivisie season.
Ajax:
Last week there was one of extremes for Ajax. In the first league game of the season, very mediocre football was played and barely equalized with 1-1 in the own Johan Cruijff Arena against Heracles Almelo. A goal from Matthijs de Ligt just before time ensured that the team from Amsterdam did not start the season with a loss, just like last year. In this match trainer Erik Ten Hag rotated a lot and that came after him a lot of criticism. Among others Kaj Sierhuis, Max Wöber and Carel Eiting started in the base, but the young talents failed to beat the opponent from Almelo.
How different was everything in the return of the third qualifying round of the Champions League against Standard Luik. In the first match was played 2-2 and so knew Ajax that there should not be lost in Amsterdam. From minute one it became clear that that would not happen. With the familiar eleven Ajax Standard fanatically pressured, resulting in a 2-0 lead for rest. The first minute after half-time was scored again and the gap of three goals did not make it possible for Standard to walk for a minute.
Now it is the question with which arrangement Ten Hag will play in Venlo, as the first game in the play-offs of the Champions League will be played next Wednesday. Will Ten Hag rotate again, or will he be his strongest eleven this time?
