Verona vs Cittadella Prediction & Betting tips
The easy route from Cittadella to Verona is just 80 kilometers. The football teams of the two (near) neighboring cities will fight for the last remaining place in the new field of participants of Serie A next Sunday. With Brescia Calcio and Lecce, two direct promoters have already been in the team for several weeks. The third in the league is currently determined in the playoffs. The promotion round can certainly be perceived as a small tournament, as six teams have in the past two weeks claims to compete in the coming season games against Juventus, Naples or Inter Milan want. Ultimately, with Hellas Verona and AS Cittadella two clubs are left to which one had actually only outsider chances.
At the latest after the first leg, there is a bigger surprise. Cittadella was able to win 2-0 on home soil in front of a home crowd on Thursday evening, thus achieving an outstanding starting position. The team of coach Roberto Venturato could thus make history this weekend and make the first leap into the highest Italian league. The opponent from Verona has much more experience in the upper house but has to make up a two-goal deficit. If the yellow-blue won with exactly two hits difference, the cheering would be great, because then would – unlike in UEFA competitions – not apply the away goals control application, but the better placement after the regular season to prevail. Here, Hellas finished fifth, while the garnets came in seventh. We decide between Verona and Cittadella on the tip for good odds that the hosts can not achieve more than one hit and the guests finally celebrate the rise.
Verona:
Last year, Hellas Verona was allowed to compete with all well-known greats of Italian Serie A football. After only 25 points collected in 38 games and the resulting 19th place had the yellow-blue but the bitter gait compete in the second division. Internally, the descent was rated as an “industrial accident”, which should be corrected as soon as possible. The former employer of former Bayern professional Luca Toni already succeeded in 2016/2017, when in the first year in Serie B the immediate re-emergence was realized. At that time the “Gialloblu” but the second place and did not have to fight through the laborious playoffs.
In the current season, the goal “return to the Beletage” was a bit more difficult. With an average record of 13 wins, 13 draws and ten defeats and just a full sense of achievement from the past nine games Verona lost one of the first two places. At least in the playoffs, however, Hellas seems to have found his way back to the track. Perhaps this is also at the beginning of May completed change to the coaching position. The well-known in Germany former World Champion Fabio Grosso was released from his duties and replaced by Alfredo Aglietti. Under the 48-year-old, the Yellow and Blue won three out of five games (a draw, a bankruptcy) and continue to dream of rising after their first round success against Perugia and the semi-final against Pescara.
Admittedly, the hopes on Thursday night but suffered a severe damper, because the first leg in Cittadella was lost 0-2. Thus, the team to the former national player Giampolo Pazzini in the second leg needs a win with at least two goals advantage, and then ascend thanks to the better placement during the regular season as a third team. However, the problem is that the 1985 champion managed to score more than one goal in only three of the past 13 competitive games. For this reason, we would also be wary on Sunday, between Verona and Cittadella to give a forecast on the rise or two home goals. Qualitatively, the fifth of the expired Serie B season is certainly something to assess more than Cittadella and yet speaks among other things, the pressure to win (high), against the alleged favorites. Ragusa and Cresczenzi will not be available due to injury.
Cittadella:
The Associazione Sportiva Cittadella is close to the biggest success of the club’s history. The small club from Veneto, which was founded in 1973 and at the beginning of this millennium ever ascended for the first time in Serie B, has never been represented in Serie A before. Exactly this could change on Sunday evening however. If the garnets defend their 2-0 advantage from the first leg, they would – together with Lecce and Brescia – in the coming game year, the adventure “excellence” in attack.
Thanks to the little-known outsider his run primarily the coach Roberto Venturato. The 56-year-old is leading the ASC 2015/2016 from Serie C into Serie B and established the small club right there in the upper half of the table. Already in the past two seasons Cittadella was allowed to participate thanks to two sixth places in the playoffs, but failed both times early. In the current season jumped after only 36 matchdays “only” the seventh place out. In the first playoff round, the garnets won at Spezia 2-1. In the semifinals, the third-placed Benevento sensational was cleared out, even though the first leg was lost before the home crowd with 1: 2. In the second leg Cittadella presented however in outstanding form and won 3-0. With self-confidence in the back, Hellas Verona was finally beaten 2-0 in the final first leg. Outstanding man on the court was Davide Diaw, who marked both hits.
Also deserving of recognition is the defensive position of the Venturato-Elf, who conceded more than one goal in only nine of 40 Serie B matches. In the high season, the ranked player with 38 goals conceded the second best defense among all 19 clubs. In foreign parts, where five of the 18 matches were lost, Keeper Paleari had to play only 18 games (on average once per match). From a statistical point of view, therefore, it is far from unlikely that in the final second leg for the rise between Verona and Cittadella a tip on maximum one hit by Hellas will be crowned with success. In terms of personnel, Coach Venturato’s squad looks pretty good. The Italo-Australian could afford the luxury in the semi-final second leg against Benevento and put his best scorer Schenetti (six goals, seven assists) 90 minutes on the bench.
