West Ham vs Huddersfield Prediction & Betting tips
West Ham United will be having Huddersfield Town for coffee on Saturday afternoon at London Stadium. West Ham United is not allowed to lose any points against the top of the league if it still wants to keep a secret view of that coveted seventh place.
West Ham United:
The West Ham United of Manuel Pellegrini is working on a reasonable season. Compared to last season, The Hammers are doing very well, but that is allowed. It is not for nothing that West Ham United has thrown millions in the transfer periods and something must be set against that. For the time being it seems to be a place in the left-hand row for The Hammers. On paper, West Ham United has a team with which it can finish seventh in the Premier League – especially now that Everton and Leicester City are underperforming. In practice, however, it appears that both Watford and Wolverhampton are making sure that West Ham United must be satisfied with ninth place in the rankings.
With a five-point deficit on the Wolves, it also becomes very difficult for West Ham United to get involved in the battle for seventh place. To be honest, I no longer think West Ham United will interfere in the fight for seventh place. The Hammers will first have to make sure that they end up in the left row and then West Ham United must perform better than it did last weekend. Visiting Cardiff City, Pellegrini’s team went down 2-0 and that was a disappointing result for The Hammers, who already lost eight Premier League-duels outside the home this season. In addition, West Ham United lost the last six duels in competition and due to the mixed results, West Ham United has hardly any prospect of seventh place.
Huddersfield Town:
For Huddersfield Town, it may not be 12 May fast enough. Then the season is definitely over and at Huddersfield Town they can focus on next year’s Championship football. Theoretically, Huddersfield Town has not yet been relegated from the Premier League, but The Terriers will never double the current score in the last eight league matches. In fact, Huddersfield Town now has fourteen points and at thirty or more points you would currently only be above the line. That of course offers little prospect for Jan Siewert and his men. On the other hand, they have already accepted at Huddersfield Town that they are going to relegate.
As was often the case this season, Huddersfield Town also left the field last weekend. The Terriers were visited by AFC Bournemouth last Saturday and went down 0-2 at John Smith’s own Stadium. Again Huddersfield Town did not score and that is clearly the problem of The Terriers. Huddersfield only scored fifteen times in thirty Premier League games and there are only two clubs (Leicester City in 1977/78 and Derby County in 2007/08) that in the past were even less likely after 30 top-level duels. It is a statistic that makes none of Huddersfield Town happy and The Terriers really have to do something about their scoring power in the summer. If that does not happen, Huddersfield Town will also find it extremely difficult in the Championship.
