Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig Prediction & Betting tips
The match between VfL Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig could be an interesting one. The home team is very difficult to beat, but will meet one of the title contenders on Saturday afternoon. What can we expect from this confrontation?
Wolfsburg:
VfL Wolfsburg is still a sub-topper in the Bundesliga, although Die Wölfe’s last four matches yielded only four points. In that series, the first two league defeats of the season were also suffered, visiting Bayern Munich (2-1) and Borussia Dortmund (2-0). Last Friday, Wolfsburg drew 2-2 in the away game at FC Union Berlin. Maximilian Arnold got the red card shortly after the start of the second half, making the draw the maximum possible.
So RB Leipzig awaits as an opponent on Saturday. Last year, Wolfsburg managed to keep Leipzig from winning twice. Both in Saxony and in the home game, the game between both teams ended in a draw. Wout Weghorst and his teammates did suffer a big cup defeat against RBL. More than a year ago, no less than 1-6 were lost to Leipzig in our own Volkswagen Arena. Trainer Oliver Glasner cannot appeal to left back Jerome Roussillon on Saturday. Jeffrey Bruma is not available due to the Covid-19 rules, but the center-back does not seem to be featured in Glasner’s plans anyway. Bruma played less than a minute in the Bundesliga this season.
RB Leipzig:
RB Leipzig had a disappointing past round. Julian Nagelsmann’s team had a top match on the menu; Borussia Dortmund came to visit the Red Bull Arena. Expectations were high, but Leipzig never managed to live up to them. The Saxons played remarkably flat. Opportunities were rarely created. Dortmund struck at the right moments, resulting in a 1-3 loss suffered by RBL.
There is not much time to mourn, because there are busy weeks on the program for Leipzig. The next one and a half there will be regular midweek matches. The most important of those duels is the first leg in the eighth finals of the Champions League, on February 16, at home against Liverpool FC. But before that happens, the necessary domestic competitions must first be completed, starting Saturday in the Volkswagen city. Nagelsmann can again have Justin Kluivert and Christopher Nkunku available. On the other hand, there is a question mark behind the names of Marcel Sabitzer and Kevin Kampl. Acquisition Dominik Szoboszlai is not available yet.
