Sevilla vs APOEL Prediction & Betting tips
In Group A of the Europa League, Sevilla will visit the Cypriot APOEL on Thursday evening. The Spanish hosts won their first group competition and, with a new victory, took a major step towards European wintering. The visitors from Cyprus are still on zero points after their defeat of two weeks ago and therefore have to grab points to keep their European dream alive.
Seville:
In a group with Dudelange (Luxembourg), APOEL (Cyprus) and Qarabag (Azerbaijan), five-time Europa League winner Seville is of course obliged to its stand to easily spend the winter in Europe. The Spaniards have certainly started their European adventure well, because two weeks ago, with a resounding 0-3 victory, they had no trouble visiting Qarabag in far-off Baku. If APOEL is also thrown out next Thursday, the red and white will have their ticket for the knockout phase almost ready.
Seville is Thursday Thursday evening in its own Sanchez Pizjuan, of course, the towering favorite, although trainer Julen Lopetegui is already looking ahead with a glance at the squatter against FC Barcelona this coming weekend. He therefore seems planning to kick off an equipo B against APOEL, although Javier Hernandez, Munir el Haddadi and former Ajax player Nemanja Gudelj are among them. However, it is clear that the priority of the Spaniards lies with their own competition, and that they want to waste as little energy as possible on the group matches in the Europa League.
APOEL:
Of course we still know APOEL from the double confrontation against Ajax in the playoffs of the Champions League. The Cypriots knew the Ajax then with a scoreless draw in the first match and a 2-0 defeat in the Johan Cruijff Arena, although the team from Amsterdam were clearly still looking for the right formation. In the end it remains a rather poor team, who lost two weeks ago to their own audience with 3-4 from Dudelange in Luxembourg.
Because of that shameful defeat, APOEL has been working hard, because if the team of coach Thomas Doll loses again on Thursday evening, European hibernation is hanging by a thread. The German usually prefers a 4-3-3 system, but will probably play with an extra defender in and against Seville.
