Watford vs Luton Prediction & Betting tips
Watford and Luton Town are eliminated in the Carabao Cup midweek. The focus must now return to the Championship. Which team will keep its unbeaten status?
Watford:
Watford started this week with a draw on a visit to Sheffield Wednesday. Vladimir Ivic’s team should not be dissatisfied with that. The Owls were certainly better than Watford in the first half. Because of the draw, The Hornets now have four points after two games. It should be noted that Watford has only scored once in the Championship. In the midweek cup game against Newport County, one hit was made. Adalberto Peñaranda used a penalty in the 3-1 loss against the number ten of the League Two. Ivic sent a heavily modified team into the field. Glenn Murray started in striker and was replaced by Stipe Perica at half-time. The Croat just before time ran into a red card due to a hard elbow strike and is therefore suspended for the game against Luton Town.
It just seems that not Glenn Murray but Troy Deeney will start against Luton Town in the base. The captain of The Hornets was looking for a transfer, but has not yet found a new club. Deeney has therefore returned to training with the first team of Watford and can be used by Ivic. Ismaïla Sarr was also back on the field last week after it was thought that the Senegalese would no longer come into action for Watford. Watford’s record purchase has been linked to a move to Liverpool, but is still under contract on Vicarage Road.
We will not see Roberto Pereyra and Étienne Capoue in action again at the current number eight of the Championship. The midfielders have indicated that they want to leave and their wish to leave seems to be fulfilled quickly. Watford is already in talks with Valencia about a transfer from Capoue. In contrast to their expected departure is the temporary arrival of James Garner. The 19-year-old midfielder is rented from Manchester United until the end of the season.
Luton Town:
As a joint leader of the Championship, Luton Town played against superpower Manchester United last week. In the third round of the Carabao Cup, the modest Hatters were allowed to show their skills against a United with Donny van de Beek, Juan Mata and Harry Maguire in the base. Despite the fact that Luton lost 3-0, Nathan Jones’s team certainly made a strong impression in the first half. Jones let his team play very defensively, which resulted in the first goal being conceded at the end of the first half. Luton went into half time with a penalty, caused by a foul by Brandon Williams. In the second half, United turned out to be a size too big and scored two goals just before the final signal.
Nathan Jones was nevertheless very proud of his players: “I am so proud of this group. We played a fantastic 86 minutes. United needed a penalty to take the lead against us. We were very compact as a team, but lacked quality at the front. When I look at the team I see a group of players who together can achieve something very beautiful in the Championship. ” The head coach also indicated in the interview on the club website that he will probably have to change some players for the match with Watford: “We have to use the selection. We cannot expect the same players to be able to give their all for 90 minutes again. ”
