Japan vs Chile Prediction & Betting tips
In the Morumbi in Sao Paulo, Japan and Chile will cross swords in the night from Monday to Tuesday. Chile is the reigning champion in the Copa America and is therefore keen to start its hunt for title protonation with a victory. The youthful Japan, however, is planning to sell her skin dearly.
Japan:
Twenty years later, Japan is again one of the countries invited to the Copa America. The Asians hope to do better this time than in 1999, when they were able to return home immediately after the group stage with only one point from three matches.
National coach Hajime Moriyasu is already looking ahead to next year’s Olympic Games in their own Tokyo, and has put together a very young and inexperienced selection. Only five players are older than 22, and no fewer than sixteen players have yet to make their debut for The Blue Samurai. You read that right, this Japan has not even played a single practice match prior to this Copa America. Goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima (Strasbourg), midfielder Gaku Shibasaki (Getafe), and attacker Shinjo Okazaki (Leicester City) are the only routiniers with international experience in this selection.
All in all, it is very difficult to estimate what this very young Japan is capable of. It is clear that the Asians are going to experiment in full, but there are indeed some rough diamonds in the selection. One is Takefusa Kubo, who goes through life as De Japanse Messi in his own country. Between 2011 and 2015, the attacking midfielder was indeed in the youth academy of the Catalan football giant, but spicy enough from next season he will be under contract with archrival Real Madrid.
Chile:
Chile managed to win the last two editions of the Copa America, but this summer is no more than an outsider for tournament winnings. Understandable, because the results of recent years are very disappointing. After Chile was unable to qualify for the World Cup last year, then national coach Juan Antonio Pizzi had to make way for Reinaldo Rueda. Under his leadership, Chile hopes to reconnect with the global subtop.
As a national coach, however, you are completely dependent on the growth from your own country. If a golden generation presents itself, you are the buyer, but if your key players reach age, you will have a hard time. The latter is unfortunately the case with the Chileans. Alexis Sanchez has had a dramatic season at Manchester United, and to make matters worse, his ankle also has problems. Chances are that he will have to miss the game against Japan. Arturo Vidal can look back on a reasonable season at FC Barcelona, but he too is no longer a shadow of the player he once was at the age of 32. In addition, La Roja lacks a good goalkeeper, after Claudio Bravo has hung his international goalkeeper gloves on. All in all, Chile is craving fresh blood, but the new generation is failing for the time being. The poor preparation also does little good for this Copa America.
