Paris SG vs Real Madrid Prediction & Betting tips
Wednesday’s top match is undoubtedly PSG against Real Madrid, were it not for both teams to miss their best players.
PSG:
The French championship is now a given for Paris Saint Germain. The Parisians won six of the last seven championships: only in 2017 did AS Monaco intervene. This year, too, the title appears to be no more than the expected outcome of the season, as the first five league games were already winning.
Because of the hegemony in their own country, the Qatari owners of the team crave European success. Winning the French title is no longer a challenge, but the cup with the big ears all the more. Since the takeovers by an investment company from Qatar never to go beyond the quarterfinals. Memorable eliminations from the French were the 6-1 defeat to Barcelona, after the home game was won 4-0. Last season it went completely wrong, when a 0-2 away win at Old Trafford in the first game was not enough to finish it at home. It was 1-3, thanks to an easily given penalty for United after a handball from Presnel Kimpembe.
Incidentally, the large number of absenteeism causes a stripped down cracker between the two great powers. PSG is missing its super trio in the attack: Neymar is still suspended after his tirade on social media against the referee after the elimination against United last season and Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani have not recovered sufficiently from a hamstring and hip injury respectively. Thilo Kehrer and Julian Draxler are also injured.
Real Madrid:
Real Madrid had a year last season to forget quickly. In the Primera Division the Madrilenians lost no less than 12 times and eventually finished in third place with no less than 19 points behind the champion Barcelona. In the Champions League, the Koninklijke went down as title holder as a watering can on his own pitch against Ajax. After the away match in the Arena had been won, the Amsterdam-based Real treated the biggest European home defeat in its history by triumphing with no less than 1-4 in the Bernabeu.
For Real this season is therefore mainly about revenge. Millions were used to strengthen the selection with Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo. However, the seasonal start is anything but flawless. In the first four league games, Real only played against teams from the right-hand row of last season, but nevertheless lost four points and never even kept the zero.
Just like PSG, Real also has to miss a quota of players. Real has to do without the suspended Nacho Fernandez and Sergio Ramos. Nacho was booked twice against Ajax, while Ramos was suspended for two matches after his much discussed intentional yellow card in the Arena. Isco, Luka Modric, Marco Asensio, Federico Valverde and Marcelo are sidelined due to injuries. Zidane will also have to puzzle which eleven names he sends into the field.
