RB Leipzig vs Basaksehir Prediction & Betting tips
RB Leipzig, last season’s surprising semi-finalist, opens its new European campaign with a home game. Istanbul Basaksehir is a guest in Saxony.
Leipzig:
RB Leipzig ended strongly last season, surprisingly advancing to the semi-finals, in which Paris Saint-Germain eventually proved too strong. Leipzig’s performance was all the better, as the team only managed to overwinter for the first time in club history last season. All this, of course, makes you want more. In the transfer period RBL lost strongman Timo Werner, but the departure of the goldcrest also faced some incoming transfers. Justin Kluivert, among others, was attracted by the team of trainer Julian Nagelsmann.
In its own country, Leipzig has started the season well. After four matches in the Bundesliga, the counter for the club from Saxony is ten points. On Saturday a solid 0-2 victory was booked at FC Augsburg. The game was not at a great level, but the second goal, scored by Yussuf Poulsen, was. The striker completed the 0-2 against the ropes in a beautiful way. He can normally count on a basic place on Tuesday. For Kluivert, and also for another newcomer, Alexander Sørloth, a role as a substitute is probably the highest achievable.
Istanbul Basaksehir:
Not one of the traditional top clubs of the Süper Lig, nor Trabzonspor, but the small Istanbul Basaksehir managed to become champions of Turkey last season. The three great powers from Istanbul performed below par. Basaksehir fought a title duel with Trabzonspor, which coach Okan Buruk’s team ultimately won. Basaksehir’s roster consists of numerous well-known players, who are somewhat in the fall of their career. Last year Eljero Elia also played a role at the club, but he has since left for FC Utrecht.
This year Basaksehir has some start-up problems in his own country. Only last weekend did the orange-blues win their first league game of this season. A visit to Trabzonspor, the club that was the main competitor in the battle for the national title last year, was won 0-2. In Trabzon, Irfan Can and Edin Visca signed for the goals, in a match in which goalkeeper Mert Günok distinguished himself with some fine saves. Since this summer, old acquaintance Nacer Chadli is also under contract with Basaksehir. The wing attacker is only in the infirmary and will not be able to play in Leipzig.
