Rotherham vs Norwich Prediction & Betting tips
It remains incredibly exciting in the upper regions of the Championship. Norwich City is not allowed to drop stitches as a leader, not even with low-flying Rotherham United. Earlier this season, with some difficulty, Norwich beat the current number 22 in the ranking (3-1). Will it again be a difficult job to beat Rotherham?
Rotherham United:
The twenty-second position held by Rotherham United prior to round 38 is actually not a good reflection of the form in which The Millers are in recent weeks. Since the start of February, Rotherham has only lost one game. In the eight games played, points were lost from Hull City, Blackburn Rovers and Millwall. Of the last three games, the Paul Warne formation even won two. Although Rotherham is still in the relegation zone at the moment, the gap with the rest of the teams in the right row has shrunk.
On Wednesday, Rotherham booked a hard-fought win on a visit to Queens Park Rangers. The big man on the visitors’ side was Semi Ajayi. The Nigerian midfielder scored twice, with his last goal falling in the fifth minute of the injury time of the second half. At that time it was still 1-1, but with his goal Ajayi Rotherham gave the first win at QPR since 1951 (!).
In the game against Norwich City, Warne has to do without Joe Mattock. Early in the game, the defender received his tenth yellow card of the season and so he is suspended for Saturday afternoon’s game. Mattock is particularly important for The Millers this season and I am therefore very curious how Warne will compensate for the absence of the 28-year-old Englishman.
Norwich City:
Last week Norwich City visited the revitalized Hull City. Norwich was lord and master against The Tigers from minute one, but made himself incredibly and especially unnecessarily difficult on Carrow Road. The first part of the match gave no reason to think that The Canaries would suffer a point loss against Hull. Norwich had a comfortable 2-0 lead within fifteen minutes. Marco Stiepermann and man in shape Emiliano Buendía were the early goal scorers. Norwich also continued to have plenty of opportunities after that, but top scorer Teemu Pukki, among others, clearly did not have his sights on it.
The moment Norwich could have decided the match long and wide, Hull came back to 2-1. A second goal from Buendía seemed to decide the game, but did not allow Hull to lead himself to the slaughter. Canaries-keeper Tim Krul made a capital mistake, as a result of which Hull reduced the deficit to one goal again. Norwich, however, remained resistant to the final offensive of The Tigers in the final minutes, winning for the ninth time in ten games.
Despite the fifth consecutive victory, Daniel Farke was anything but satisfied with the performance of his team. “We are making one small mistake that could have just cost us the head. We have missed countless opportunities, so we had to defend our lives in the end. It should never have been so exciting. ”
