Serbia vs Chile Prediction & Betting tips
With big steps we are approaching the big football event of the year 2018. Only two weeks to the start of the World Cup! The Serbian team will play their penultimate preparatory match on Monday night. Opponent is the team of Chile, which itself narrowly failed in qualifying for the finals. The Serbs are certainly not in the narrow favorite group for the title to see, but should not be underestimated by any of their opponents. The kick-off in the Merkur-Arena in Graz is at 8 pm.
Serbia:
For the Serbs, the participation in the 2018 World Cup in Russia is the second after 2010. Eight years ago they retired in the first round of the table, although they then won their group match against Germany 1-0. A defeat in the last group match against Australia prevented the move into the second round. This is supposed to be better this year, and they certainly did not catch a lightweight group. A clear favorite in Group E should be the Brazilians. Presumably, it will be decided between the Serbia and the Swiss, who as group second progresses a round. Costa Rica plays the role of underdog. The team from the former Bundesliga professional Mladen Krstajic will also play their first group match against the Central Americans. In the first game of preparation, the white eagles will first encounter Chile before heading to Bolivia five days later in the final friendly. In qualifying group D, they were able to prevail as a group first in front of Ireland. With six wins, three draws and one defeat they collected 21 points. In the World Cup year, the Serbs have completed two games so far.
They tested against the two World Cup participants Morocco and Nigeria. While defeating Morocco 2-1, Nigeria were defeated 2-0. With Sergei Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio they have one of the shooting stars of last season in their ranks. The top scorer in qualifying was Aleksandar Mitrovic, who earns his living at Newcastle United. He scored six goals. With Matija Nastasic (FC Schalke 04), Milos Veljkovic (Bremen), Mijat Gacinovic (Frankfurt), Filip Kostic (Hamburger SV) and Luka Jovic (Frankfurt) were five Bundesliga legionaries in the preliminary squad of coach Krstajic. Nastasic and Gacinovic did not make it to the train for the World Cup and were canceled by the coach from the squad.
Chile:
The Chileans, after failing to qualify for the World Cup, are preparing for the big tournament as the sparring partner of some World Cup participants. On Monday night, they will first play against the Serbs, before there is still a test match against Poland on Friday. In the three friendlies that the team of Reinaldo Rueda Rivera completed this year, they could record a 2-1 win over Sweden and a 0-0 draw against Denmark. Last Thursday, they lost 2-3 to Romania. After a red card against Castillo they had to play for 60 minutes in a minority. The winner for the Romanians fell six minutes before the end. In qualifying for the World Cup in Russia, the Chileans failed only very narrowly. Until the last matchday they were in fifth place of the table, which would have been enough for the playoff game. However, losing 3-0 to their last game against Brazil means they fall to sixth and have to watch the World Cup. Top scorer in qualifying was Alexis Sanchez of Manchester United, who scored seven goals. But he will not be there, like Vidal from Bayern Munich, against Serbia.
