Russia vs Turkey Prediction & Betting tips
At the VTB Arena in Moscow, Russia is working towards the upcoming World Cup in its own country. The Russians are longing for a victory and will hope that opponent Turkey will not overpower too much on Tuesday evening.
Russia:
Is host country Russia ready in time for the opening match on June 14 against Saudi Arabia? On the basis of the recent results you would at least say no. The team of national coach Stanislav Cherchesov did not manage to win six friendly international matches and also lost a 1-0 defeat last Wednesday and again the cheese of the bread against Austria. So it will have to be a lot better anyway if Sbornaya does not want to hit a mud figure at the World Cup.
Admittedly, with opponents like Argentina (0-1), Spain (3-3), Brazil (0-3) and France (1-3), Russia certainly did not choose the easy route. In the practice matches against such top countries, however, it became painfully clear that the Russians, especially defensively with ten opponents in four games still want to drop a stitch. In fact, Russia only had to face a counterweight against Austria, but the rearguard was again shaken. In addition, the country did not make a fist in attacking sense. Deep striker Fyodor Smolov was barely reached, and that was against an opponent who did not qualify for the World Cup. Cherchesov still has a lot to tinker with his team, which can use an impulse both in defensive and offensive terms.
Turkey:
Turkey came in group I of the European World Cup qualifying no further than a disappointing fourth place behind respectively Iceland, Croatia and Ukraine, so The Ottomans will be behind the tube this edition of the World Cup. National coach Mircea Lucescu therefore logically seizes this interland period to let young talents smell the real work. Big names such as Volkan Babacan, Hakan Calhanoglu, Omer Toprak, Selcuk Inan, Burak Yilmaz, Mevlut Erdinc, Nuri Sahin and Arda Turan are therefore not on Tuesday night for a variety of reasons. Instead, Lucescu compiled a relatively inexperienced selection, in which only eleven of the 27 players have ten or more matches behind their names.
Yet the young Turks certainly do not do it badly. Thanks to two goals from Cenk Tosun, WK-ganger Iran was sidelined 2-1 on May 28th. Four days later, thanks to another goal from the Everton striker, Turkey again stood up against a World Cup-goer. The encounter against Tunisia resulted in a 2-2 draw. Tosun, however, was in trouble in that race in Swiss Geneva with some of the supporters who, according to Turkish media, bothered his family in the stands. Tosun was hardly able to calm down by his teammates and was presented with a red card. The chance that he will appear at the kick-off on Tuesday evening thus seems very small. Players like Oguzhan Ozyakup (Besiktas), Yunus Malli (Wolfsburg) and Umut Bulut (Kayserispor) started on Tunisia against Tunisia and therefore have a good chance of winning a starting place against Russia.
